God deserves everything!
Gospel: Mark 12:28-34
When the people of Israel entered into the covenant with God, without any harassment whatsoever and out of free will, they submitted themselves to the commandments simply because of the social and personal order it brings to humankind. There is life! Undeniably, life abounds for those who follow the command.
But why is this generation not following the command? Probably, we have forgotten Moses' words, "Write them in your heart." (Deuteronomy 6:6) Internalize the commandment; live it out; share it with others.
Jesus further revealed the key to writing the commandment in "the heart." first, love the Lord with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength!" (Mark 12, 28) The reason we fall short of life is because we have not loved the Lord with all our hearts. Our hearts are divided, our minds are confused, our strengths are used elsewhere! Follow St. Ignatius' Ad majorem Dei gloriam, all for the GREATER glory of God! Even our love for our neighbors is based on our love for God; there could not be anything less!
