2nd Sunday of Advent, C

He is the very reason for Christmas

Gospel: Luke 3:1-6

It is important that we enter into John's Baptism of repentance to prepare ourselves for the coming of the Messiah this Christmas.

Repentance is not merely asking for forgiveness.  As stated in the act of contrition, it also demands an authentic relationship with the Lord "who is worthy of all our love" and not just fearing the "pains of hell".

And who is this Lord whom we wish to be reconciled to?

He is the God who clothes us with the cloak of integrity and grants dignity to all people.  He is the One who assembles people from the east and the west.  He is the one who makes the mountains and hills low for us to walk upon.  He is our real security.  Any sign of security not based on him is not true repentance.

He is the very reason for Christmas.
