Life? What kind of life?

Thursday after Ash Wednesday

Luke 9:22-25

Again, we entered Lent.  Our intention is to learn from the ways of Lent, to ask for forgiveness to the Lord, and live a new life anew.

But there is better condition that the Lord proposes to us and this is the content of our agreement or covenant with God.  It is to simply follow him, otherwise, we risk death and punishment.  This was also the core of the condition of the Lord when he created man: eat this fruit and you shall die.  And man ate it anyway.

Choose life.  It is not in our material things that we can find life.  Neither can power bring us anywhere, nor our reputation and good name can bring us fulfillment.

Jesus enunciated the core of real life: "carry your cross and come follow me.  The man who saves his life will lose it, but the man who loses his life for my sake will find it."  Furthermore, "What gain, then, is it for a man to have won the whole world and to have lost or ruined his very self?"  Thus, it is about carrying one's cross, following the Lord to the letter, and gaining not the world, but our life in God that causes us to live.
